Key Responsibilities:
- Post-Anesthesia Recovery: Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and interventions for Phase I and Phase II recovery.
- Monitor vital signs, manage pain and nausea, assess surgical sites, and evaluate readiness for discharge according to established criteria (Aldrete Score, etc.).
- Clinical Expertise: Manage airway support, administer medications, provide IV therapy, and respond effectively to post-anesthetic complications (e.g., respiratory depression, hypotension, emergence delirium) with decisive, composed action.
- Patient & Family Education: Provide clear, thorough discharge instructions to patients and their support persons regarding post-operative care, medication management, and warning signs.
- Team Collaboration: Coordinate care with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and pre-op nurses to ensure seamless patient flow through the perioperative process.
- Communicate effectively regarding patient status and any concerns.
- Fast-Paced Environment: Thrive in a dynamic setting with rapid patient turnover, requiring excellent time management, prioritization, and critical thinking skills.
- Quality & Safety: Adhere to all PACU protocols and safety standards.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives specific to outpatient surgical outcomes.
- Shift: Day Shift
- Schedule: Part-time (3 eight-hour shifts per week)
- Facility: Outpatient Surgery Center
- Skills-Current RN license (Georgia or Compact State)
- Current BLS certification (required upon hire)
- Minimum 2 years of direct patient care nursing experience
- PACU, ICU, or procedural recovery experience
- Associate's Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing is required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is strongly preferred.
- Current RN License in the State of Georgia or a Multi-State Compact License.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required upon hire.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS certifications are highly preferred or required upon hire.
- CPAN (Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse) certification is a plus.
- Minimum 2 years of direct patient care nursing experience is required.
- Experience in PACU, ICU, ED, or procedural sedation/recovery is highly preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and assessment skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service abilities.
- Ability to function independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassion and patience in caring for patients during recovery.
