Pay Range: $52 - $52.14/hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop reliable analog and digital hardware systems and circuits.
- Integrate regulatory, product safety, EMC/EMI, environmental, and reliability requirements into hardware designs.
- Review schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and component selections for compliance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Develop and support regulatory and product certification strategies.
- Coordinate certification and approval activities with agencies such as UL, FM, CSFM, and other applicable organizations.
- Plan and establish test configurations to meet regulatory and product safety requirements.
- Coordinate compliance and certification testing with external test laboratories.
- Support EMC/EMI testing, troubleshooting, failure analysis, and corrective actions.
- Assist with identifying and resolving hardware issues discovered during regulatory or product testing.
- Prepare and maintain technical files, test reports, compliance matrices, and certification documentation.
- Manage and maintain certification listings for existing products and product revisions.
- Provide guidance to hardware, quality, testing, and cross-functional engineering teams on regulatory requirements.
- Monitor changes to applicable regulations and standards and communicate their impact to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with quality and testing teams throughout product development.
- Provide basic technical troubleshooting support during compliance and certification activities.
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
- Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Approximately 5 10 years of experience in hardware engineering, regulatory compliance, product safety, certification, or a related field.
- Strong hands-on experience with EMC/EMI testing, compliance, troubleshooting, and failure resolution.
- Experience with electronic hardware design, development, testing, or design review.
- Strong analog electronics experience involving sensors, bipolar and MOSFET transistors, operational amplifiers, and passive components.
- Experience with digital and microcontroller-based hardware.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance, product safety testing, and certification processes.
- Experience working with external test laboratories, certification agencies, or approval organizations.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering and product safety principles.
- Ability to prepare and maintain technical documentation, test reports, and compliance records.
- Strong written, verbal, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability and willingness to work 100% onsite in Northford, CT.
- Experience with fire alarm, fire detection, life-safety, or building safety products.
- Knowledge of UL 864 or comparable product safety and certification standards.
- Experience working with UL, FM, CSFM, or similar certification agencies.
- Experience coordinating certification projects from submission through approval.
- Familiarity with maintaining certification listings and product approval files.
- Knowledge of standards such as NFPA, NEC, NEMA, FCC, CISPR, EN, IEC, CSA, or other global regulatory standards.
- Experience with product safety testing, root-cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Familiarity with commercial fire-system components and functionality.
