Job Overview
Pygmy Elephant is hiring a new team member for our Reservations Department! We are looking for someone who is goal-oriented, can learn quickly, and has the initiative to find solutions to problems as they arise. We are a small, fast-growing company that offers advancement opportunities on the ground floor. This is an entry-level position with the potential to grow into a sales or management role.
The new team member will play a key role in executing the itineraries of our clients. They will lead the client through the reservations process by booking accommodations, transfers, and services, in addition to answering questions about our offerings and making suggestions based on the client's preferences.

Pygmy Elephant creates Self-Guided Adventure Tours for clients from all around the world. Our specialty is long-distance trekking tours. The Tour du Mont Blanc, Camino de Santiago, West Highland Way, and the W-Trek in Torres del Paine are a few examples of places we send clients to every year. Duties
- Understand the needs and requests of clients and consult them effectively on travel arrangements.
- Make bookings and reservations with local accommodation, transport, and activity suppliers. Work with clients to best meet itinerary goals based on market availability.
- Become an expert on the trips we sell.
- Create detailed and rich customized handbooks using our backend system based on client’s itinerary.
- Assist with customer service requests throughout the life of a client’s journey with us – from initial quotation, to bookings, to support while on-trail, to after-travel support.
- Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Keep organized financial statements and documents, along with electronic records relating to client's trips.
- Assist with support-level tasks to help the team succeed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage, especially French, Spanish, or Italian.
- Strong customer service skills to assist clients effectively.
- Proven travel planning experience to create personalized itineraries.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with clients and vendors.
- The ability to problem solve and suggest solutions when needed.
Experience
- 2 years of previous experience in the travel industry.
- A degree in Hospitality, Travel, Tourism, Business or a relevant field would be beneficial, however not mandatory.
- An avid hiker or traveler is a plus.
