The Backflow Service Technician independently performs testing, service, maintenance, and repairs of backflow devices. This position requires demonstrated technical competency and the ability to complete standard jobs without direct supervision. The technician may be considered at a Journeyman level and is expected to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Backflow Service Technician independently performs testing, service, maintenance, and repairs of backflow devices. This position requires demonstrated technical competency and the ability to complete standard jobs without direct supervision. The technician may be considered at a Journeyman level and is expected to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Independently perform testing, service, maintenance, and repairs of backflow devices.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose system deficiencies and perform corrective action/repairs.
- Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete assigned tasks.
- Ensure compliance with standards and local codes.
- Accurately and timely complete required documentation and service reports.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to use multiple platforms and applications for reporting, documentation, and data management.
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to adapt quickly to diverse situations, evolving challenges, and changing business needs.
- Communicate effectively with customers and internal team members.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
- Support and assist entry-level technicians and apprentices as needed.
- Travel to job sites as required.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years of experience in backflow testing and repair.
- Strong understanding of backflow and service and repairs.
- Must have a clean driving record and active driver’s license (if driving is required).
- Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
- Performs other duties assigned by management.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
- Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
