Millwright

Summary/Objective

Maintenance Millwright’s primary purpose is of installing, maintaining, upgrading, and fabricating machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings in an industrial establishment. This position is full time, 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule.

Essential Functions

• Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures. Dismantle machinery or equipment, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
• Moves machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and forklift trucks.
• Assemble and install equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and manufacturing equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
• Constructs foundation for machines, using hand tools and building materials, such as wood cement, and steel
• Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, lasers, and plumb tools
• Assemble machinery and bolts, welds, or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures, using hand tools and power tools
• May operate lathe or milling machine to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications
• Required repair and lubricate machinery and equipment
• Selects cables, ropes, chains, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved
• Attaches load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains to crane hook
• Set up braces and rigs hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches
• May direct workers engage in hoisting of machinery and equipment
• In addition, may perform all duties of general labor, skilled laborer and carpenter
• Able and willing to train others
• Other duties as assigned
  
  

Competencies

• Good at adhering to strict safety guidelines and cognizant of safety risks
• Working knowledge of mechanical technical skills to allow them to effectively read documents such as specifications, machine manuals and blueprints
• Proficient in troubleshooting techniques to solve machine issues
• Ability to be a team player
  
  

Work Environment

Temperature- High temps between 80-100 degrees. Depends on time of year

Noise- Decibels can average around 90 dBA and reach peaks up to 115 dBA.

Chemicals- Oil and cleaning chemicals

Physical Demands

Constantly- standing, walking, bending/crouching, reaching Lifts and carry 1-15lbs

Frequently- climbing (stairs/ladders), pushing, or pulling, twisting

Occasionally- Lift or carry 30 lbs.
