The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Shipping Supervisor to lead our warehouse distribution and shipping operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily shipping and receiving activities, ensure efficient inventory control, and manage a team of warehouse associates. Your leadership will drive process improvements, uphold safety standards, and optimize logistics workflows to meet the demands of a fast-paced distribution environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence warehouse operations positively while fostering a collaborative team culture committed to excellence.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily shipping, receiving, and materials handling activities within the warehouse or distribution center.
- Coordinate with logistics providers and third-party logistics (3PL) partners to ensure timely dispatch and delivery of goods.
- Oversee inventory management systems and utilize RF scanners to track stock levels accurately.
- Lead process improvement initiatives using lean management principles to enhance warehouse efficiency and reduce waste.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts safely, adhering to OSHA standards and safety protocols.
- Manage team schedules, assign tasks, and provide ongoing training in warehouse operations, including heavy lifting and equipment operation.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, inbound/outbound logs, and inventory control data for audit readiness.
- Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement aligned with warehouse management best practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience in warehouse supervision or warehouse management within distribution centers or e-commerce environments.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control systems, and logistics processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and inventory management systems; experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) is preferred.
- Valid forklift certification and experience operating material handling equipment safely.
- Excellent managerial communication skills with the ability to lead teams effectively and motivate staff toward shared goals.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting regularly while maintaining safety standards; physical stamina is essential.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations, lean management techniques, and distribution center operations.
- Prior experience working with 3PL providers or in shipping & receiving roles is highly desirable.
