Priority Wire & Cable, a leading supplier of wire and cable in the U.S. and Canada, is seeking a Senior Director of Operations based in our Houston, TX office reporting to and working closely with our VP of Operations responsible for all warehouse functions across our North American distribution centers. This area upholds and furthers the profitability of business operations and order fulfilment. They will need to collaborate with senior leaders across the enterprise to determine goals, support initiatives and coordinate closely with both procurement and sales to ensure communications remain strong. Finally, this person will help ensure the company is meeting its long-standing focus of same-day shipping to our customers.
The successful candidate will work with the VP of Operations to oversee the overall operational administration and management of all our warehouses to ensure locations are operating optimally and efficiently, performance goals are achieved, and high standards of customer service are met. This person will have a hand in strategic execution, process improvement, resource planning, metrics/KPIs, budgeting, safety, and team leadership.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
· Work in tandem with the VP of Operations and Ops leadership team to implement operational improvements, strategic goals, and policies for 22 locations across North America.
· Promotes continuous improvements to layouts, workflows, and utilization of warehouse space to drive efficient operations and staff up the employee base as required.
· Manages policies and procedures across all facilities to ensure warehouse operations run smoothly and product is delivered to the customer in a timely, accurate, and undamaged state.
· Focus on safety culture and initiatives and the training supporting the program.
· Utilizes a warehouse management system (WMS), enterprise resource system (ERP), or other systems to track and analyze processes and performance, track metrics and produce reports.
· Establish and drive a culture of continuous improvement leveraging best practice tools and methodologies, to deliver year-over-year cost reductions and efficiency improvements.
· Manages and monitors operating budgets to ensure profitability and cost control.
· Develops or directs the creation of metrics to measure the performance of all areas of warehouse and logistics.
· Helps lead the constant focus on ensuring an accurate inventory at all times.
· Provides leadership, direction and coaching to develop a high-performance team and leverages the learning management system to train the workforce to the highest level of competence.
Demonstrated Skill in:
· Proven experience in warehouse management, operations management, logistics, business process optimization, process improvement or similar leadership role.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operation procedures, policies, and safety regulations.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, WMS, and ERP or other tracking systems.
- Communicates well and has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving and leadership skills.
- Ability to drive for results and adaptability to prioritize and manage changing priorities.
- Project management experience.
- Remains calm in fast-paced and stressful situations.
- Demonstrates attention to detail and is diligent.
Job Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, related field OR equivalent experience.
- 7 years of professional experience in Warehouse Management, Operations, Logistics, or related field.
- 7 years of managerial/supervisory experience.
- 25% travel required.
- Electrical or wire and cable industry experience preferred.
· Experience in an ERP, CRM, and/or WMS. Infor M3 ERP experience/expertise highly preferred.
· Certifications (PMP, Six Sigma, or related certifications/training) are preferred.
