Position: Plant Manager PVS Technologies Augusta
Description: The Plant Manager is an upper management position that provides the opportunity to be a part of a team that manufacturers and distributes high quality chemicals. It is an opportunity to be exposed to all aspects of an office and plant environment including Safety, Plant Operations, General Administration, Logistics, Vendor /Supplier Management, and Customer Service. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the plant ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. The Plant Manager shall uphold the fundamentals of the Nicholson Nine, the Responsible Care Guiding Principles, and all Environmental, Health, Safety and Security requirements. The Plant Manager reports directly to the Director of Ferric Operations.
Primary Responsibilities (May include but not limited to):
- Uphold the fundamentals of the Nicholson Nine.
- Uphold the standards of the Responsible Care management system.
- Maintain corporate “Safety is #1” philosophy.
- Ensure the safe and environmentally compliant operation in the manufacturing facility.
- Oversee life critical safety permits and contractors working on site.
- Responsible for coordinating emergency response.
- Report all incidents and accidents using Dakota and the Injury Illness Prevention Program.
- Interface with site host, Olin Corporation. Collaborate with Olin on chlorine supply, railcar movement, site access, parking, and other commercial or operational issues that may arise.
- Monitor performance of salary and hourly workforce and provide direction as necessary to complete assignments on a timely basis and to perform tasks in accordance with management expectations; participate in all hiring decisions to attract the most qualified candidates for employment.
- Direct operations to service customer requirements for ferric chloride, ensuring that specifications are met: investigate any and all failures to meet customer specification; develop and implement new operating procedures when warranted to improve outcomes.
- Stay abreast of optimal preventative maintenance procedures, supply of spare parts, and other contingencies to maintain plant and operations on a continuing and uninterrupted basis; requisition parts, tools, supplies and services as required.
- Prepare regular reports and analysis to report various activities including volumes and shipments to customers, conditions of the plant, quality measurements and other such status summaries required by management and to generate ongoing data relevant to past, current, and long-term operating results of the plant; work together with Accounting/Finance staff in preparing and monitoring financial performance of the Manufacturing Site and compliance with approved operating budgets.
- Work closely with Finance, Engineering, and other groups in planning ahead for capital projects, preventative maintenance, and other special requirements of plant: request required assistance as warranted.
- Maintain relationships and communicate as necessary with customers, governmental agencies, and others to respond to inquiries or to provide clarification or information required and to otherwise maintain and/or develop favorable relationships.
- Plan and execute shift activities based upon targets established by management to balance deliveries of spent pickle liquor, and production of ferric chloride; monitor operations to ensure that processing procedures are followed, and that ferric chloride complies with customer chemical specifications; respond to customer delivery requirements working in conjunction with Transportation Unit personnel to achieve pick-up/delivery requirements.
- Work closely and collaboratively with administrative officials in assessing candidates for employment opportunities, completing performance evaluations and in executing other manpower transactions in a professional manner considering E.E.O.C., Wage & Hour and other state or federal regulations.
- Work collaboratively with other company personnel to resolve operative problems and on to address other issues such as capital projects, environmental issues, or similar matters.

Required Education / Training / Equivalent Experience (Prior to hire / transfer):
- Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Excellent safety standards
- Chemical manufacturing plant operations management and/or production management and/or plant supervision experience preferred
- High degree of Mechanical aptitude and experience and ability to troubleshoot process, equipment, electrical, and instrumentation issues a plus
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Proven analytical and decision-making skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Availability to work night and weekend
- 24/7 availability in emergencies
- Available for business travel
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Project management and/or contractor management experience within the chemical process industry a plus
- Experience in a PSM, RMP facility and applying industry RAGAGEPs – Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (Chlorine Institute, API, NACE, ISA, ANSI, ASTM, NFPA, etc.) a plus
