We are seeking an Electromechanical Systems Engineer with a strong foundation in electromechanical design and a comprehensive understanding of systems engineering principles. The ideal candidate will excel in bridging the technical intricacies of optical and mechanical systems with the broader requirements of complex engineering projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring seamless integration of electromechanical components into larger systems while adhering to rigorous requirements, traceability, verification, and validation processes.
Responsibilities:Electromechanical Design and Analysis- Design and develop electromechanical components, assemblies, and systems, leveraging expertise in lenses, mirrors, sensors, and mounts.
- Perform simulations, analyses (thermal, structural, dynamic), and prototyping to optimize designs.
- Support tolerance analysis, alignment strategies, and optical performance characterization.
- Define, document, and manage system-level requirements for electromechanical systems.
- Establish traceability between system requirements, design specifications, and test protocols.
- Lead the development and execution of system verification and validation plans.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (optical, mechanical, software, and electrical engineers) to ensure system-level compliance.
- Perform trade studies and feasibility analyses to balance technical performance, cost, and schedule constraints.
- Act as the technical interface between engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams.
- Coordinate with program management to align technical activities with project timelines and deliverables.
- Drive risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and issue resolution at the system level.
- Develop technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and compliance reports.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company quality management systems.
- Support audits, reviews, and regulatory submissions as needed.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in electromechanical design and systems engineering in a relevant industry (e.g., aerospace, medical devices, defense, photonics).
- Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) and optical design software (e.g., Zemax, CODE V).
- Experience with systems engineering tools (e.g., DOORS).
- Knowledge of thermal, structural, and dynamic analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS).
- Familiarity with optical metrology techniques and tools.
- Proven track record in requirements definition, decomposition, and management.
- Experience with verification and validation processes, including environmental testing (thermal, vibration, shock).
- Ability to navigate complex, multi-disciplinary technical challenges.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work across disciplines and leadership levels.
- Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., aerospace, medical devices).
