Rebuild Technician Apprentice

Position Summary

The Rebuild Technician Apprentice supports senior technicians in the teardown, inspection, rebuilding, and testing of PVE vibratory hammers, hydraulic clamps, gearboxes, and power units (HPUs). This entry-level role provides hands-on training to develop mechanical, hydraulic, and troubleshooting skills specific to PVE equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with teardown, cleaning, inspection, and rebuild of PVE vibratory hammers and clamps.
• Support inspection of bearings, shafts, seals, gear sets, hydraulic lines, and electrical components.
• Help rebuild and maintain PVE power units, pumps, valves, filters, and cooling systems.
• Learn to read service manuals, hydraulic diagrams, and torque charts.
• Use hand tools and precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, and torque wrenches.
• Maintain a clean and safe shop environment and follow all PPE requirements.
• Document rebuild steps, parts used, and test results on work orders.
• Assist in test-running rebuilt equipment and monitoring performance.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or GED
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
• Basic tool knowledge and ability to follow instructions
• Interest in heavy equipment or hydraulic systems

Preferred:

• Experience with hydraulic or mechanical repair
• Technical/trade school background
• Ability to read diagrams or schematics

Skills & Competencies

• Mechanical reasoning and attention to detail
• Strong communication and teamwork
• Safety-focused mindset
• Ability to lift up to ~50 lbs and perform physical shop tasks

Work Environment

• Industrial shop with hydraulic equipment, rotating components, and moderate noise
• Use of PPE required (steel-toe boots, gloves, eye protection)
