Registered Behavior Technician Description & Contract
Puzzle Pieces Registered Behavior Technician is to provide direct care to clients with intellectual disabilities through one-on-one therapy in a home or clinic setting to help clients acquire skills using strategy based teaching and behavior modification.
Certification Policy & Understanding
- If a current Puzzle Pieces’ employee is seeking a RBT certification he/she must have the approval of the supervising BCBA to oversee supervision hours.
- He/she will have their certification training paid by Puzzle Pieces upfront if they have worked 3 years for the organization and are in good standing.
- The program director can approve their training to be paid for by the organization under the special circumstances that the organization is pursuing the individual to become certified.
- An individual that is hired into our organization as a certified RBT, must provide their certification during the onboarding process. The supervising BCBA must approve of the certification.
- If an individual is hired into our organization to become a certified RBT, he/she must pay for the certification training upfront (can work out a payment plan/withholding from paycheck if needed), and after passing the exam and practicing as a RBT for 60 days with the organization a bonus will be provided to the staff to cover the initial cost of the certification.
- Any staff who has worked less than 3 years with Puzzle Pieces and is needing RBT certification, regardless of who is vetting for the certification, he/she must pay for the training in full upfront (can work out a payment plan/withholding from check if needed), and after passing the exam and practicing as a
RBT for 60 days with the organization a bonus will be provided to the staff to cover the initial cost of the certification.
If the organization pays for the certification of the RBT, he/she must work at least 60 working days as a RBT following the certification in order to remain in good standing with the organization. If he/she does not follow through with the 60 work days following the paid certification, he/she will be expected to reimburse the organization of the full amount paid for the certification process. The organization reserves the right to withhold that amount as a payroll deduction and the organization will provide a letter detailing why he/she was not in good standing and therefore must reimburse the organization for the RBT training and certification cost.
Payroll & Reimbursement Understanding:
- A certified contracted RBT will be reimbursed at the rate of $20.00/hr. He/she will only be reimbursed at $20/hr for every billable hour if the organization is provided with the required contact note description.
- A RBT can have a flex schedule and be trained to hold the position and requirements as a Direct SupportProfessional (DSP) under the regulations of Medicaid’s SCL/MPW. The flex position as a DSP will be paid at a campus rate of $12.25/hr. and/or their base pay rate if different from the average campus rate.

$20/hr reimbursement rate.
Job Description & Understanding:
- Assist in the implementation of behavior treatment and instructional plans utilizing ABA principles in clinical, home, and/or community setting
- Provide direct care one-on-one therapy to clients in a home or clinic setting to implement skill acquisition and behavior reduction treatments as directed by the Program Supervisor.
- Implement and report data on programs such as client’s self-help skills, behavioral management, social skills and academic areas
Collaborate, communicate and assist with the training of clients, parents and staff. Provide a safe and supportive environment for clients and family. Implements the client’s behavioral plan as developed by the Board Certified Behavior
Analyst (BCBA). Collect and analyze skill acquisition and behavior data, with oversight and supervision provided by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Licensed Behavior Analysis. Maintain ongoing communication with the parent regarding client’s progress and plan of care Maintain strict confidentiality. Confer with members of ABA therapy staff and other team members, individually and in a conference, to exchange, discuss, client information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs.
Communicate through checking voicemail and email regularly. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. When working as a BT/RBT you can only bill for time you are working directly with that client. Complete daily acquisition skills, maintenance, and mastered skills as directed by BCBA Complete all data sheets, programming sheets, and progress notes daily Follow behavior plan, individualized treatment plan, and reinforcement schedule as prescribed Implement appropriate teaching strategies and behavior modification approaches Complete all programing requests from BCBAs and Program Coordinators in a timely manner Maintain organization of a client’s binder and ensure proper storage of the binder at the end of each day. Maintain cleanliness of center and ensure it looks presentable at all times Adhere to policies and procedures of Puzzle Pieces Assist in providing a safe environment for all clients and staff Assist with problem solving to improve efficiency and morale within the clinic Portray a positive attitude and maintain a customer and co-worker satisfaction level that limits adverse situations or complaints

- Promote Puzzle Pieces philosophies, generating team spirit and creating and maintaining an environment that fosters staff satisfaction, maximizes productivity and profitability
Attend weekly meetings and training as requested Pass the RBT competency and written exam after RBT training is complete
