We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Leader to enhance the quality of life for residents in our long-term care facilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating engaging recreational activities tailored to seniors. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a variety of recreational activities that promote socialization, cognitive engagement, and physical well-being for residents with diverse needs.
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as mobility, dressing, and personal hygiene as needed.
- Coordinate with nursing staff and caregivers to ensure activities align with individual care plans and health considerations.
- Manage activity schedules to ensure timely and organized events, adapting plans based on resident preferences and health status.
- Maintain accurate documentation of resident participation and feedback related to activities.
- Support social work efforts by counseling residents on aging issues and encouraging social engagement.
- Collaborate with team members to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that promotes emotional well-being and community involvement.
Qualifications
- Experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care environments such as nursing homes.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, and caregiving best practices.
- Background in long-term care or home & community care is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage residents and coordinate with staff.
- Ability to assist residents with ADLs and manage schedules efficiently.
- Experience working with people with disabilities or those requiring specialized memory support is advantageous.
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in enhancing seniors' quality of life through engaging activities.
- Relevant certifications in social work, aging issues counseling, or related fields are a plus but not mandatory.
