Extruder Operator - 3rd Shift: This position completes a number of extrusion tasks such as setting up and operating various types of extrusion equipment; performing in process inspection for medical extruding tubing and ancillary equipment. This position controls and monitors equipment that helps to manipulate and shape thermoplastic materials.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supports operations in various functions including, but not limited to, sets up/tear downs, operation of, monitors, cleans and maintains extrusion machines and other auxiliary equipment. Evaluates products/processes and makes necessary adjustments to process to optimize quality and output.
- Monitor and troubleshoot lines, product and operating equipment.
- Performs moisture analysis on raw material and ensure quality of extruded product by performing quality inspections using a variety of measurement equipment, including but not limited to: Pin gages, Laser Micrometers, Verniers and Video Microscopes.
- Completes documententation in a timely, accurate and neat manner. Including handwriting and data entry, satisfies documentation, labeling and inspections.
- Monitors material, supply levels, and communicates the need to re-order as required in anticipation of future operations.
- Must be able to complete multiple and repetitive tasks and be committed to accuracy and quality.
Safety:
- Works in a safety conscious manner. Ensures equipment is in working order.
- Adheres to safety requirements/practices/procedures as required, including required PPE/Clothing.
- Respect and follow workplace safety rules including, but not limited to, proper handling practices of chemicals per procedures, maintaining safe work practices, follow LOTO and HAZMAT polices, refer to SDS when applicable, and apply information found to the task at hand.
Required Qualification:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
- Mechanical aptitude to operate and troubleshoot machinery.
- Ability to read/write/understand English.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals as well as measure in English and metric measurements.
- Ability to effectively use and/or learn Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel, as well as, company quality/production software.
- Work in a fast-paced department with continuously changing jobs and priorities. Able to perform several tasks concurrently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with plastics or medical device manufacturing.
- Several years of related extrusion experience.
- Previous experience with ISO, FDA and cGMP.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude to operate and troubleshoot machinery.

- Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to input, handle or feel, use of arms to reach, able to hear and talk. Walking upstairs carrying 50lbs bags numerous times a shift.
- Must possess fine hand motor skills to handle small manufacturing tools, QC tools and fine product.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Required to stand for majority of an 8 hour work shift and lift/push/pull up to 50lbs repeatedly throughout work shift. This includes walking up stairs carrying 50lbs bags several times a shift.
- Works on a manufacturing floor. Periodically overtime could be required including weekends.
- Some travel required between company owned properties is required.
