Duties
- Accurately organize, file, and retrieve patient medical records in accordance with established protocols and confidentiality standards.
- Input and update patient information within electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
- Review medical records for completeness, consistency, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Assist healthcare providers by preparing patient charts and documentation needed for appointments or procedures.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information in compliance with privacy laws such as HIPAA.
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure timely documentation and recordkeeping processes are followed.
- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence related to medical records, including requests for copies or transfers.
- Support administrative tasks related to patient data management, including data entry, filing, and record audits.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in a medical office environment or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and proficiency in data entry tasks.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology to accurately interpret and organize clinical documents.
- Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy of medical records.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere strictly to privacy regulations governing patient information.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with healthcare providers, patients, and external agencies.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in health information management is a plus.
