Job Description: The Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum/Instruction is responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures related to curriculum and instruction and for directing, monitoring and evaluating instructional programs.
Qualifications:

Holds a West Virginia Professional Administrative Certificate.

Holds a master’s degree related to the public school program.

Has a minimum of five years of school administrative experience.

Holds a minimum of a master’s plus 30 salary classification.
Length of Employment: 261 Days
Responsibilities: The Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum/Instruction shall have the following responsibilities and duties:
- To demonstrate instructional leadership to enhance school/county effectiveness by improving instruction and augmenting student performance.
- To provide purpose and direction for schools/county.
- To demonstrate cognitive skills to gather, analyze and synthesize information to reach goals.
- To manage group behaviors to achieve consensus.
- To enhance the quality of the total school/county organization.
- To organize and delegate to accomplish goals.
- To communicate effectively.
- To coordinate and supervise the activities of the curriculum directors.
- To coordinate and consolidate textbook adoptions and budgetary needs.
- To prepare Step 7 proposals, oversee the implementation of approved program and expend budgets appropriately.
- To develop in collaboration with teachers, administrators and parents an effective and practical school calendar.
- To develop, in collaboration with the curriculum directors and coordinators, professional development and continuing education for the district.
- To work collaboratively with the curriculum directors and coordinators to develop, implement and evaluate instruction toward meeting the county’s approved instructional goals and objectives.
- To coordinate and monitor preparation for on-site reviews.
- To be responsible for the successful implementation, operation and direction of programs including community schools, adult basic education, GED testing, adolescent, middle childhood, early childhood, vocational/technical education and summer schools.
- To represent the county as the chief instructional leader at regional and state meetings.
- To maintain professional work habits.
- To maintain and upgrade professional skills.
- To perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
