Starting the School Year (August 2026)
Qualifications: Must be eligible for or hold a Food Service Sanitation Certification; ability to
organize and coordinate multiple food programs; enjoy working with children; ability to
work with school staff and school administrators; ability to work with District
administration and other District cooks.
Goal/Function: To plan, prepare, and provide nutritious, appealing, and cost-effective meals to students and staff in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines, while
maintaining clean, safe, and efficient kitchen and cafeteria environments that support
student health, academic success, and overall well-being
*Direction may also be provided by Director of Food Service and Chief Cook
- Program Coordination
a. For PCJH and PCHS, provide oversight of student cafeteria workers
b. Provide guidance and support to Cook
- Planning and Ordering
a. Develop monthly menus with Director of Food Service, Chief Cook, and other Head Cooks
b. Inventory food and supplies
c. Order needed food and supplies
d. Receive stock and assist in stocking delivered food orders
e. Review, initial, and submit monthly bills to Director of Food Service
- Preparing and Serving Food
a. Assist in preparing the main meal
b. Serve breakfasts and lunches on a daily basis
c. Complete daily production reports
- Related Food Service Tasks
a. Supervise the sale of lunches
b. Record and report daily breakfast and lunch counts
c. Work with Cooks to wash all pots, pans, and cooking utensils
d. Comply with all federal and state guidelines for safety and sanitation
e. Attend workshops to gain and apply knowledge about upgrading the food service program
f. Perform related duties as assigned
Risk Management Responsibilities
- Collaborate with supervisors to develop and maintain safe conditions for the well-being
of students, faculty, employees, volunteers, and visitors.
Adhere to safety guidelines outlined in the District Risk Management Plan.
Implement necessary precautions to ensure the safety of physical property, including
equipment, materials, and facilities.
Identify and report hazardous conditions that may pose a risk to individuals or property.
Monitor and report unauthorized persons or suspicious items on school property.
Identify and report signs of neglect or abuse in students based on physical condition or
behavior.
Adhere to all federal, state, local, and District policies and procedures.
Maintain confidentiality of student information.
