What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Representative position at Pursuit?
Company Mission:
Our mission is to remove friction from selling to the public sector.
Pursuit transforms how trillions in public-sector contracts are sought and awarded. We believe the best contractors should win contracts, not just the ones who are most deeply embedded. Pursuit AI scans millions of pages to identify opportunities for companies selling to the public sector. Our customers are companies who sell to the public sector, and we’re selling more pipeline, revenue, and productivity to the GTM organization.
What You'll Do:
We're hiring a Business Development Representative (BDR) who wants to break into tech sales at a company where the mission actually matters. You don't need a traditional sales background — you need drive, curiosity, and the resilience to do hard things consistently. You'll be the first voice prospects hear from Pursuit, working on-site in Ann Arbor, MI, and reporting directly to the Director of Business Development.
Every job posting wants "2 years experience", but this one doesn't. We don't care where you went to school or whether you've "done sales" before. We care that you've done something hard and finished it.
You'll use AI daily, not just ChatGPT, but tools built to flag which agencies are actually in-market right now and personalize outreach in seconds instead of hours. That's a skill most reps don't pick up for years. Real coaching, real decision-makers, and a shot at a closing role in 12–18 months. In-office in Ann Arbor, MI.
What We're Looking For:
- You finished something hard
- Team captain, built something from scratch, a job you had to figure out yourself, a side hustle — just show us you can commit
- You're curious, not scripted
- You ask why, before how
- You take feedback and run with it, not defensively
- You can communicate: Phone, Zoom, email, Slack — clear and confident in all of them
How We Set You Up to Win:
Structured first week, a peer buddy, hands-on coaching from day one. Nobody expects you to know sales yet — that's the job.
Compensation and Benefits:
- $45K base $45K bonus = $90K OTE
- Bonuses paid monthly— not once a year
- Real, uncapped upside — top reps are hitting well beyond target
- Unlimited PTO (and a team that actually uses it)
- Medical, dental, vision
Salary : $45,000 - $90,000
