Overview:
The Certified Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and provides various support functions related to Pharmacy services. Duties include preparing prescription orders for patient pickup, delivery, and shipment; controlled substance management and preparation; receiving and processing incoming medication and supplies; maintaining various records, logs, and reports; answering telephones, responding to questions or requests; receiving and coordinating patient orders via phone or computer-based platform; managing ordering, preparing, and shipping. This role includes direct contact with the patient in person, via videoconference, phone, chat, and email.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties:
· A focus on multiple, time sensitive tasks
· Process and fulfill orders for prescriptions and at-home kits, including shipment and delivery preparation
· Manage the packing and shipping of medications
· Intake and process patient orders via telephone, webform, or other technology platforms
· Assist with prior authorizations
· Monitor and report on key pharmacy metrics
· Maintain quality assurance standards by performing regular audits and creating remediation plans as warranted
· Assist in proper inventory maintenance of drugs and supplies ordered and stored by the pharmacy
· Accurate preparation, labeling, and packaging of medications for dispensing under the supervision of the pharmacist
· Assists patients at drop-off and or pick up and obtains pertinent patient information for inclusion into the electronic profile
· Displays teamwork by actively supporting department changes and willingly and proactively assists co-workers
- Maintains pharmacy in a clean, orderly, and safe manner by restocking shelves, cleaning workstations, returning medications to stock.
- Maintains current knowledge and competency of USP 800
- Understanding and compliance with handling procedures of all controlled substances
- Demonstrates an understanding and ability to use current equipment including electronic workflow systems, printers, computers, fax machines, telephones, POS, etc. Reviews transmit and receive wholesaler orders as required
· Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
· Credentialed as a Certified Pharmacy Technician
· Current West Virginia Pharmacy Technician license
· Prior experience in a pharmacy or clinical setting with a strong attention to detail and exceptional time management skills.
· Prior experience in the substance use disorder treatment field preferred
