We are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer (Ignition Scada) to serve as a key technical resource within our automation group. This individual will provide advanced expertise in Ignition development while supporting PLC programming, HMI development, industrial networking, system integration, startup, and commissioning activities. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable developing modern SCADA applications, troubleshooting control systems in the field, and working directly with clients to deliver practical automation solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
SCADA & Software Development
- Design and develop Ignition Perspective and Vision applications.
- Create dashboards, reporting systems, and operational KPIs.
- Develop SQL database integrations and historian solutions.
- Configure alarms, notifications, user management, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Develop custom scripting and integrations utilizing Python, MQTT, OPC-UA, REST APIs, and related technologies.
Automation & Controls Engineering
- Develop and modify PLC programs utilizing Allen-Bradley Studio 5000.
- Support Siemens, Schneider, and other control platforms when required.
- Configure HMIs, industrial networks, and communication systems.
- Troubleshoot automation systems during startup and commissioning.
- Perform FATs, SATs, loop checks, and field verification activities.
Client & Project Support
- Participate in client meetings and requirements development.
- Support commissioning and startup activities throughout North America.
- Assist in troubleshooting and optimization of existing control systems.
- Develop project documentation, narratives, and turnover packages.
Preferred Qualifications
Required
- 5 years of industrial automation experience.
- 3 years of Ignition Perspective development experience.
- Experience with SQL databases and database design.
- Strong understanding of SQL databases and industrial data systems.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC programming and Studio 5000.
- Strong troubleshooting and commissioning experience.
- Ability to work directly with customers and operate independently.
Preferred
- Python scripting within Ignition.
- HTML, CSS, and JavaScript experience.
- MQTT and OPC UA experience.
- Experience with industrial networking.
- Experience commissioning industrial control systems.
- Familiarity with FTView, Siemens TIA Portal, or other HMI/SCADA platforms.
Travel
- Approximately 20% travel.
- Most trips are commissioning support and typically less than one week in duration.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
