Job Description
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Process and support daily off‑cycle, bi‑weekly, and monthly commission payrolls, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Act as a subject‑matter expert for Workday Payroll, including payroll results interpretation, retroactive processing, and issue resolution.
- Ensure payroll practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including FLSA, wage and hour laws, payroll taxes, and garnishments.
- Support internal and external payroll audits and respond to audit requests as needed.
- Build, maintain, and enhance payroll controls to reduce risk and support audit readiness.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, increase efficiency, and automate manual work where possible.
- Perform detailed payroll reviews using advanced Excel tools and techniques.
- Review payroll work completed by others on a periodic basis to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Create and maintain payroll documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Clearly explain complex payroll topics to payroll team members, internal partners, and employees when needed.
- At least 5 years of payroll experience, with extensive hands‑on experience using Workday Payroll.
- Working knowledge of Workday Report Writer.
- Experience supporting a multi‑state payroll environment.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas and macros.
- Working knowledge of payroll compliance requirements, including FLSA, state wage and hour laws, payroll taxes, garnishments, and audits.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and exercise sound judgment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally, as business needs require.
- CPP certification.
- Experience with OneSourceVirtual (OSV).
- Experience with Earned Wage Access providers (e.g. Stream or myFlexPay)
- Experience using Business Intelligence or reporting tools.
