The Banquet Captain will be responsible for assisting with the delivery of catering services at various events, including weddings, corporate events, and social gatherings. They will be responsible for leading a team of off-site event staff, under the supervision of an Event Manager, to successfully execute food, beverage, and equipment orders ensuring client and guest satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES Other responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Assist with the operations of an off-site event including equipment delivery, event set-up (including the arrangement of tables, chairs, linens, and décor), food service, and clean-up
- Manage a service team including servers, bartenders, and coat check
- Communicate effectively with clients to ensure that their expectations are met
- Collaborate with the catering sales team to plan and execute successful events
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced event environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Attend and participate in company meetings and training sessions to stay informed of company policies, procedures, and initiatives
- Stay current on trends and incorporate new techniques and methods into daily operations
- Ensure that all events comply with health and safety regulations and company policies
- Performs other duties associated with the position that are reasonably assigned to support the overall needs of the business
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1 year of experience in catering operations, event management, or a related field
- Proven leadership and management skills, including the ability to motivate and direct a team of event staff
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
- Alcohol Awareness Certification (e.g., TIPs, TAM, ServSafe Alcohol)
- Food Safety Certification (e.g., ServSafe, Food Protection Manager)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use their hands; reach with hands and arms; and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
