Responsibilities
- Provide professional grooming services including bathing, trimming, styling, and nail clipping tailored to each dog’s breed, size, and coat condition
- Handle dogs with care and confidence, utilizing animal handling and restraint techniques to ensure safety for pets and staff
- Assess each dog’s health status during grooming sessions, noting any skin issues or abnormalities that may require veterinary attention
- Maintain a clean and organized grooming area, sterilizing tools and equipment regularly to uphold hygiene standards
- Communicate effectively with pet owners about grooming preferences, special needs, and aftercare instructions
- Assist with pet handling during other animal care activities such as pet sitting or kennel duties when needed
- Support team members with additional animal handling tasks, including dog training or basic veterinary assistance if qualified
Experience
Candidates should bring a strong background in pet grooming combined with experience in animal handling. Prior work involving veterinary or veterinary technician roles is highly valued, especially those with veterinary assistant or kennel experience. Familiarity with pet training techniques, veterinary procedures, and animal restraint methods will set you apart. Additional skills that enhance your candidacy include:
- Dog handling and pet care expertise across various breeds and temperaments
- Experience working with animals in settings such as kennels or shelters
