About the Role
Purk & Associates, PC, a public accounting firm, is seeking a Senior Controllership Accountant for client service work. The Accountant will be a full-time permanent consultant supporting the Controllership Division. The Accountant will perform a variety of core accounting activities to support our clients, primarily closely-held businesses. The Accountant will serve as a trusted advisor to our clients, providing guidance on a wide array of business and accounting related matters.
Essential Functions and Primary Duties
• Must be proficient with QuickBooks Desktop and Online, and Microsoft Office
• Reconcile all bank & credit card accounts
• Calculate and file payroll and sales tax returns
• Maintain the general ledger
• Process payroll through third party processor
• Accounts Payable – process bills & prepare e-checks or paper checks
• Enter journal entries for various types of accounts
• Prepare periodic financials & management reports
• Understand accounting related processes at a client and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and/or accuracy
• Strong attention to detail and capability of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
• Manage clients expectations
• Supervise and train staff on software and processes and procedures
• Drafting engagement billing
Preferred Qualifications
• Certified QuickBooks Pro-Advisor
• Knowledge of QuickBooks Online Apps, Bill.com, etc.
• Installation & integration of software
• Preparation of business and individual tax returns
• Basic research of tax questions
• Review and draft response to taxing authority notices
• Advanced Excel and Word skills
• Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary
• Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
• Proficient use of applicable technology
• Must be able to travel within the metropolitan St. Louis area based on client and business needs
