Essential Accountabilities: The position incumbent ensures, that
- Acts as a role model for safety and continuous improvement
- Coaches employees to work safely, escalate unsafe conditions, and suggest improvements
- Verifies the production area is fully compliant with company, state, and federal health, safety, and environmental policies and standards
- Conducts audits to ensure safety, 5s, and first aid standards are followed and recommends corrective actions and improvements
- Communicates hazards, risks, and control measures between production teams and management
- Completes incident reports and initiates corrective actions to eliminate hazards and prevent accidents and near misses
- Verifies employees use work instructions, standard work, and the Quality Basics throughout processes
- Verifies the timely completion of the First Off Process
- Conducts hourly product and process audits to identify non-conformances and escalate recurring or serious issues
- Supports and initiates quarantine actions for nonconforming material and processes
- Communicates with support departments to coordinate actions to reduce and eliminate production losses from breakdowns, defects, and material shortages
- Identifies product and processes that do not meet customer and quality requirements and initiates deviation requests to meet delivery requirements and protect customers from non-conforming products
- Collects and analyzes scrap, rework, and other production loss information to create corrective actions to achieve goals
- Facilitates and coaches team leaders to facilitate line problem solving meetings to identify root cause and corrective actions to eliminate defects
- Coaches and assists team leaders to create corrective actions to eliminate non-conformances and protect the customer
- Supports team leader level 1 red box review as needed
- Facilitates level 2 red box review with support functions
- Facilitates level 2 Top 5 and department focus team meetings to create and monitor the progress of short- and long-term actions plans
- Reviews EPT boards hourly to coach and enforce proper use for complete, accurate, and up-to-date information
- Reviews actual vs. planned production each hour, coaches and assists team leaders to create corrective actions
- Coordinates with internal customers and suppliers to ensure production teams achieve daily goals
- Ensures continuous improvement to the efficiency of production processes
- Participates in weekly focus team meeting to support long-term actions that reduce scrap and improve efficiency
- Audits and manages blocked stock daily to reduce work in progress
- Monitors Build To Target and Build to Schedule reports to ensure achievement of the daily production plan
- Verifies pre- and post-shift line readiness
- Audits end of shift backflush reports in SAP to verify production reports and identify discrepancies to correct backflush process errors
- Validates employee attendance and updates timecards in HR system
- Adjusts headcount to meet direct labor efficiency and delivery targets
- Reports daily production outcomes, OEE, non-standard events, and other incidents to management
- Facilitates shift handover communication with supervisors and team leaders
- Manages and approves employee timecards and time off requests daily
- Acts as the initial response for employee relations and escalates to Human Resources as needed
- Communicates shift changes, mandatory overtime, and other information affecting employee well-being
- Acts as the role model for core values and competencies
- Validates on-the-job training and employee cycle times throughout the shift
- Accountable for employee multivalence and completion of periodic refresher training
- Trains and coaches team leaders and other supervisors on the performance of daily standard work
- Attends daily level 1 Top 5 meetings and provides developmental feedback to team leaders
- Leads team leader professional development through regular coaching and performance feedback
- Prepares and conducts coaching and disciplinary actions in accordance with the company's progressive discipline policy
- Empowers selected team leaders to assume some duties in the absence of the Supervisor
- Escalates serious issues and other problems in a timely manner according to established procedures
Secondary Accountabilities: The position incumbent ensures, that
- Conduct all business-related activities for, and on the behalf of, Purem within the limits of applicable local, state, and federal legal requirements
- Provide support to, and compliance with, all local and corporate Purem Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures and other HSE related requirements
- Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and follows all Purem polices related to TS16949 and ISO 14001; looks for way to improve and promote quality
- Performs manager duties as needed
- Other duties as assigned
