Our client, a global leader in fintech and digital payments, is looking to bring on a Senior Tax Manager that would be shaping tax strategy for the US and Americas. This is a high-impact role where you’ll drive strategic tax planning (70%) and oversee compliance (30%) in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary tax contact for US and Americas regional teams (finance, legal, commercial), ensuring alignment and compliance across workstreams.
- Lead strategic tax planning for initiatives such as BEAT, Pillar Two, transfer pricing, new market launches, M&A, and banking-related projects.
- Oversee US federal and multi-state income/franchise filings managed by external providers; review deliverables, calendars, extensions, estimates, and true-ups.
- Review returns for accuracy, including reconciliations from US GAAP provision to return, M-1/M-3 schedules, apportionment, state adjustments, and NOL/credit utilization.
- Manage IRS and state audits, notices, and inquiries, coordinating IDRs, nexus reviews, and controversy strategies with advisors.
- Partner with Financial Control to ensure correct tax accounting entries, payments, and information reporting (e.g., 1099 reporting).
- Maintain compliance calendars and ensure timely estimates, extensions, and cash tax forecasting.
- Collaborate with global tax teams on automation initiatives and group-led projects such as Pillar Two, Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR), and cash tax management.
- Drive process improvements and automation of tax workflows using modern tools and AI-enabled solutions.
Qualifications:
- CPA (or equivalent) strongly preferred; qualified accountant/tax adviser.
- 8 years in corporate and international tax within a multinational organization (preferably financial services or fintech), with a blend of public accounting and in-house experience.
- Background in US corporate income tax and state/local tax (SALT).
- Tax accounting under US GAAP (ASC 740), including rate reconciliation, uncertain tax positions (FIN 48), and valuation allowances.
- Familiarity with IFRS environments and cross-border tax issues.
Skills:
