Job Summary: The primary Role and Responsibility of the Commodity Inventory Allocator (CIA) is the allocation of their group of commodities ensuring the correct product, for the correct customer following designated product specifications. The CIA coordinates closely in tandem with Commodity Planners through a short-term line of sight which intersects with inbound product forecasts and ship-to-customer specific forecasts expectations. This role also requires verifying quality of on-floor inventories vs ERP system records to monitor inventory levels. This position is responsible for the allocation of products to accurately fill customer sales requests as directed by the commodities department.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Each allocator is responsible for their assigned produce category in a warehouse/cooler-based role.
- Start each day with an inventory count and an aged-on-hand inventory QC report to be sent to the corresponding DC Management, Commodities and Procurement Teams.
- Locate, inspect and sign-off on product quality in inventory to prepare for staging and shipping.
- Communicate any quality issues or suggestions for product for customers to the DC Management and Commodities Team
- Complete start and end-of-shift reporting of product quality and other reports as required or requested by cross-functional teams.
- Verify aged product inventory vs printed physical counts.
- Investigate and solve inventory variances and issues to ensure product is utilized and not skipped.
- Monitor communication from the commodity department and regularly review production schedules to ensure product availability.
- Communicate with production supervisors, and production scheduler about allocations and changing priorities to ensure delivery deadlines are consistently met and optimal product utilization is realized.
- Map and accurately mark product in coolers; ensure accurate location of product as indicated by the production board or commodity department.
- Communicate with forklift drivers that are pulling products; aid them in finding all allocated product.
- Correctly mark product to indicate sequence of product to be delivered to the production floor.
- Monitor rejections and complete root cause analysis of every rejection for your assigned product category at your corresponding DC.
- Track and monitor customer and grower product trends.
- Other core expectations as defined by the company.
Requirements and Skills
- High school diploma required; post-secondary education in a business discipline or a post graduate certificate preferred.
- 2-3 years experience in record management in the produce industry preferred.
- Mathematical reasoning, numerical literacy and problem-solving skills required.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Health and Safety, and Food Safety
- Experience with ERP software FAMOUS® preferred.
- Intermediate level of Microsoft Office Suite software experience required.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate keen attention to detail and task-related accuracy, as well as consistent follow-through skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision; provide leadership as needed.
Work Environment:
Hours of work may vary depending on business needs; on-call and holiday availability, ability and willingness to travel.
This job operates across multiple location and environment could vary from a refrigerated warehouse, where temperatures range from forty-5 – fifty-5degrees °F to a greenhouse operation with temperatures that range from eighty – ninety degrees °F. The noise level in the work environment can be loud due to packaging machinery, and forklift truck operation
Role occasionally uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Specific vision capabilities required; employee is to work in front of a computer, sitting and/or standing for prolonged periods
Role frequently requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, use hands to handle or feel product or packaging, and reach with hands and arms
The position frequently involves needing to lift up to 30-pounds, occasionally up to 50-poounds.
