Purdy Powers & Company is seeking a dynamic Tax Accountant to join our Tax Team in the Portland office. This role offers the opportunity to deepen your technical expertise, work across diverse industries, and contribute to high-quality tax solutions in a collaborative and supportive environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provide clients with a comprehensive range of tax services, including planning, research, and compliance.
  • Prepare tax returns for corporations, flow-through entities, and individuals with a high level of accuracy and technical proficiency.
  • Research and consult on tax issues, offering strategic and well-supported recommendations.
  • Proactively engage with client leadership to deliver meaningful business and tax insights that support long-term success.
  • Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and client service in all engagements.
  • Assist with additional accounting and tax compliance tasks as needed to support client needs and firm objectives.
  • Approach work with a holistic, solutions-focused mindset and contribute to a collaborative, forward-thinking team culture.


Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Accounting majors completing their degree by December 2025 or May 2026 with a minimum 3.0 GPA are encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates graduating with 150 credit hours are preferred but not required.
  • Interest in pursuing CPA certification is preferred; support for exam preparation is available.
  • Prior internship experience with a public accounting firm is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting strongly preferred; Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) is a plus.
  • Strong technical skills in accounting and tax compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and organizational abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to exceptional client service.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
