The College of Liberal Arts is seeking a Research Administration Specialist to manage research operations and research teams in the Governance and Responsible AI Lab (GRAIL). GRAIL is a university research center focused on interdisciplinary collaboration at the intersection of AI, governance, and policy, empowering students, and producing rigorous research for policymakers and practitioners.
Responsibilities
- Implement policies, procedures, and standards for research operations and research staffing.
- Ensure research compliance practices and procedures are followed.
- Verify quality of research data.
- Recommend research ideas and protocols; conduct literature searches; identify grant opportunities; and draft grant proposal documents.
- Assist with partnership building, fundraising initiatives, and grant preparation.
- Monitor materials, software, data, inventory, controls, and vendor management.
- Oversee maintenance of GRAIL equipment, software, websites, and social media.
- Manage event and visitor logistics and maintain center communications, website, and social media presence.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant social science field.
- Three years of experience in administrative coordination, research support, or academic operations.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Professional communication skills and experience with digital tools.
- Experience planning and managing events and communications.
- Use of AI applications for research.
- R, Python, or similar statistical software; web editing.
Helpful qualifications
- Master's degree.
- Four or more years of experience in administrative coordination, research support, or academic operations.
Additional information
- This is a limited-term duration position of three years with an estimated end date of May 31, 2029. Continuation is dependent on funding.
