The anticipated annual salary for this position is between $95,000.00 - $108,000.00 commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience. The final salary offer will be determined based on a variety of factors, including equity, available budget, educational background, and relevant experience.

Responsibilities
- Advise and help implement strategic plans for the Radiation Safety Section, promoting a culture of safety and innovation
- Serve as primary liaison to Federal and State regulatory agencies, supporting regulatory compliance and best practices
- Advise the director of research safety on operational priorities and performance improvements
- Develop, refine, and communicate radiation safety and operational guidelines, including policies and goals
- Manage the annual section budget and approve critical expenditures
- Offer advisory support regarding campus environmental health matters

What We're Looking For
Education and Experience Required:
- Master’s degree in health physics, Industrial Hygiene, or closely related scientific field required
- Four (4) years of experience in environmental health and safety required
- Subject to 24-hour call back for emergencies
- A valid driver's license
- Must be technically proficient in health physics and knowledgeable of applicable Federal and State regulations
- Knowledge of radiation safety principles and regulations required
- Certification by the American Board of Health Physics required, eligibility for certification required
- Must meet criteria established by Nuclear Regulatory Commission for Radiation Safety Officer of a Type A Broad Scope License
- Strong written and verbal communication and work organization skills required
- Demonstrated conflict resolution and human relations skills required
- Purdue University will not sponsor employment authorization for this position
- A background check will be required for employment in this position
- FLSA: Exempt (Not Eligible for Overtime)
- Retirement Eligibility: Immediate Defined Contribution by the university
