Role Description The Postdoctoral Fellow in Glial Biology and Neuroimmunology will conduct advanced research on the roles of glial cells and immune mechanisms in the nervous system, including experimental design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing laboratory experiments, maintaining and troubleshooting research protocols, coordinating with collaborators, and preparing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals. The fellow will present findings at internal meetings and external conferences, contribute to grant applications, and help mentor graduate and undergraduate trainees in the lab. This is a full-time, on-site role based at Purdue University, IN, working closely with faculty and research staff in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent) in neuroscience, immunology, cell biology, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in experimental glial biology and/or neuroimmunology, including experience with relevant in vitro and in vivo models.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including proficiency with data analysis software and statistical methods commonly used in biomedical research.
  • Hands-on experience with core laboratory techniques such as cell culture, microscopy, molecular biology (e.g., PCR, Western blotting), and immunohistochemistry or flow cytometry.
  • Proven track record of scientific productivity, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, or equivalent scholarly output.
  • Excellent scientific writing and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare manuscripts, reports, and research presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, mentor junior lab members, and manage multiple projects with attention to detail and timelines.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of research ethics, laboratory safety, and responsible data management.
  • Prior experience with animal models of neurological or immune-related conditions is highly beneficial.
  • Familiarity with grant writing, project planning, and the development of new research directions is an advantage.
