What are the responsibilities and job description for the Painter position at Purdue University?
As a Painter for the Operations and Maintenance Department, you will:
- Serve as Painter for assigned area.
- Meet quality standards for services.
- Confer with customers by telephone or in person in order to provide information and answer questions.
- Apply coats of paint, enamel, stain, varnish or lacquer to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trim and fixtures of buildings and other structures.
- Install wall coverings including vinyl, paper, carpeting, and textiles.
- Responsible for the operation and maintenance of airless spray equipment.
- Overtime may be required.

What We Are Looking For
Required:
- High school diploma/GED
- Three years of previous painting experience, including brush, roller, compressor and airless spray application
Preferred:
- Experience with the application and handling of wall coverings
Skills:
- Able to use compressor and airless spray techniques and erect scaffolding.
- Able to perform mathematical calculations.
- Have strong oral & written communication skills.
- Computer skills including familiarity with word processors and spreadsheets.
- Able to work from heights up to 100 ft.
- Able to lift and carry 25-50 lbs. frequently and up to 60 lbs. occasionally.
- Must pass annual physical.
- Must be fitted for and use required respiratory equipment during specific operations.
- A valid US or Canadian driver's license.
