About us:
Purdue Veterinary Hospital is adding a credentialed veterinary technician to our Intermediate Care Ward team. The Intermediate Care Ward hospitalizes stable patients that still require 24-hour care and offers the opportunity to practice critical thinking skills, technical skills, and patient care skills. As a teaching hospital supporting 15 different veterinary specialty departments, the veterinary nursing team in the Intermediate Care Ward have the opportunity to utilize their knowledge caring for a variety of hospitalized patients and work closely with the small animal specialty teams to provide around the clock care. Schedules may rotate through day/night shifts as well as weekends and holidays. Schedules will be discussed during the interview.

What We’re Looking For:

Education and Experience

• AAS in Veterinary Technology from AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology Program
• Two years in a University Veterinary Teaching Hospital or Veterinary Specialty Hospital as a credentialed veterinary technician
• May consider 10 years in a veterinary General Practice
Must become RVT in Indiana within 12 months of hire

Skills needed:

• Able to listen to and follow both verbal and written directions
• Must possess good oral and written communication skills with the ability to read and write in English
• Must possess a knowledge level enough to explain and demonstrate routine veterinary medical concepts and procedures to aid in the instruction of veterinary students, and veterinary technology students
Must complete Purdue Veterinary Technician Basic Skills List prior to promotion to Senior Veterinary Technician
