Purchase Day Camp is the premier summer camp, dedicated to providing enriching programs for children aged 3 through 10th grade. We offer a diverse range of activities, from swimming and archery to crafts and sports, all within a nurturing environment that fosters joy and adventure.
When is Purchase Day Camp?
Purchase Day Camp is an 8 week summer camp that runs June 29th - August 21st, 8:15 am - 4:15 pm. Camp is closed on July 3rd, providing a long weekend for the 4th of July. No nights or weekends are required!

As a Lifeguard at Purchase Day Camp, you will contribute to creating memorable waterfront experiences for our campers. Our lifeguards are comprised of rising high school seniors, and college age individuals. Purchase Day Camp follows the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program. You will be responsible for helping to supervise pool activities ensuring safety, and fostering a positive environment where children can grow and enjoy their summer. PDC fosters and teaches real-life learning skills: critical and creative thinking, collaboration, communication and problem solving. Leadership is learned and practiced; where you take initiative, encourage sportsmanship, and positively contribute to our PDC community.
What are your responsibilities?
- Foster positive relationships with campers to create a welcoming environment.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of camp waterfront facilities.
- Encourage proper behavior and adherence to all rules/regulations, both inside and outside, of the pool facilities.
- Teach small group swim lessons.
- Follow a guard/shift schedule.
- Work in a collaborative environment with other lifeguards, camp counselors, and others in the camp community.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 17 years old.
- Lifeguard Certification required.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification required.
- Practice Sensitivity, Enthusiasm, and Encouragement.
- Willingness to be adaptable to help when needed, inside and outside, of the waterfront facilities.
- Be open to learning and having new, rewarding experiences.
- Contribute and participate daily in our camp community.
