Job Summary: Punchbowl News is looking for a Business Development Associate to join our growing team. This position plays a critical role in supporting the growth of subscription-based revenue streams, with a strong focus on opportunity generation.

Exceptional customer service and communication skills are essential to this role, as the Associate will interact directly with potential subscribers on a daily basis to initiate evaluations of Punchbowl News’ subscriptions services.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and research potential customers to uncover insights that drive effective and personalized outreach.
• Build relationships with prospective customers through inbound responses and proactive outbound efforts, including cold calls and emails.
• Secure meetings with key decision-makers by delivering tailored, compelling messaging across multiple channels.
• Support Subscription Sales Team in providing an exceptional end-to-end customer experience during evaluations.
• Accurately document all customer interactions in HubSpot in a timely manner and keep internal stakeholders informed of relevant updates and progress.
• Collaborate with the Marketing, Events, and Product teams as necessary to support broader company initiatives and ensure a seamless customer experience.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of relevant professional experience.
• Proven experience in an outbound sales associate role.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage professionally with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Prior experience in news media or information subscription services is highly desirable.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple priorities.
• A strong interest in news, politics, or public policy is a major plus — empathy for users and curiosity about the inner workings of Washington are essential.

Compensation & Benefits

The On Target Earnings range for this position is $60,000 to $80,000. Final compensation will be determined based on the role’s scope, as well as the candidate’s experience and relevant skills.
