Salary / FLSA / Non-Exempt Grade 59 / Teacher Assistant ($16.48 - $22.23 per hour); plus local supplement (if applicable) Grade 51B / Sub Bus Driver ($15.00 - $17.62 per hour)
The salary for this position is based upon the successful applicant’s years of service in the NC State Retirement System in the same or similar position. Experience outside of this system is not recognized for pay purposes. For current Lincoln County School employees, this position will be paid according to the current Lincoln County Schools’ pay scale.

Nature of Work Under general supervision, employee will perform a variety of technical and clerical tasks in assisting the teacher. Employee may perform a wide range of tasks in order to support the efforts of the teacher, meet the needs of all students, and ensure the provision of quality instruction for all students. Employee provides one-on-one assistance with academics, behavioral problems, and personal and self-helps skills and may lead small group activities. Employee assists teacher with general housekeeping, clerical duties, and personal care needs of students.

Qualifications / Requirements Teacher Assistant Education and Credentials - All teacher assistants shall:
(1) have a high school diploma or its equivalent and shall either: (a) hold a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential; or (b) hold or be working toward an Associate Degree or higher in birth-throughkindergarten, child development, early childhood education, or an early childhood education related field. Teacher assistants working toward the Associate Degree shall make progress by completing a minimum of six semester hours per year.
(2) complete a minimum of 15 hours of annual in- service professional development. A combination of college coursework, Continuing Education Units (CEUS), or clock hours may be used to complete the requirements of this Rule.
(3) The site-level administrator shall document the progress of teacher assistants who are working toward the required education. This documentation must be maintained in the individual’s staff record available for review by the Division. Return
Teacher Assistants working towards an AA/AAS Degree or higher in an early childhood education related field shall make progress by completing a minimum of six semester course hours a year. The six hours of coursework would need to be completed by the beginning of the next school year.
Background Check
Pre-K teacher assistants and other professionals that work with Pre-K students are required to have a Child Care criminal background check every five years of employment. The cost will be at the employee’s expense, and will be reimbursed upon completion. You will not be able to begin employment until your Qualification Letter has been received. This process will be reviewed by HR at the time of employment.
