Independent Contractor - Adult Mental Health Outpatient Therapist

As an Independent Contractor - Adult Mental Health Outpatient Therapist, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Responsible for the evaluation and diagnoses of recipients with varied mental health conditions such as - Anxiety, Bipolar disorder, Depression, Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Schizophrenia etc.
  • Utilizes and promotes trauma-informed treatment through the provision of evidence based practices. Utilizes motivational interviewing techniques to assess and articulate the motivation of consumers to address specific needs identified during the assessment process.
  • Participates in developing the patient's treatment plan and outcomes in cooperation with the treatment team.
  • Provides direct therapeutic services consisting of individual, group, and/or family therapy dependent on the patient's needs.
  • Makes ongoing assessments regarding the patient's progress in treatment and revises the treatment plan according to patient needs.
  • Completes clinical documentation accurately and in a timely manner utilizing the PCE system.
  • Establishes and maintains contact and relationships with referral sources related to patient caseload.
  • Plans for continuing care of patient and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Monitors and completes insurance/outpatient authorizations for patient caseload.
  • Provides referrals for additional care or services when required.
  • Participates in regular supervision with the manager and seeks out additional supervision as needed.
  • Adheres to all applicable provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
  • Adheres to the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS), Department of Public Welfare (DPW), and Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) regulations.
  • Completes mandatory orientation and annual training programs; completes applicable attendance/ timesheet documentation.
  • Provides coverage for other programs as needed.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as necessary and/or as assigned.
  • Stays current with professional credentialing and knowledge base with the scope of practice. Participates in staff meeting, committees and professional development activities.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled clinical supervision, case consultations, case management and team meetings.
  • Document all face-to-face service activity and phone contact pertaining to consumers.
  • Perform within acceptable standards of productivity.
  • Complete all documentation within expected timeframes.
  • Proactively manage and update chart notes, and report accurate timesheets using Pulse’s HR system –Gusto.
  • Respond in writing to routine chart reviews and audits.
  • Maintain appropriate state licensure or certification.
  • Maintain appropriate professional ethics and boundaries.
  • Abide by all Pulse Community Health policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Past Experience working with DWIHN is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients, families, and other professionals.
  • Understands the nature of addiction, including its psychological, physiological, and social aspects.
  • Ability to conduct thorough assessments to diagnose substance use disorders and/or cooccurring conditions.
  • Ability to provide individual and/or group therapy to help patients understand their addiction and develop coping strategies.
  • Skilled at analyzing complex situations and making sound decisions regarding treatment and intervention strategies.
  • Has the capacity to manage personal stress and maintain professionalism in challenging situations.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a team consisting of Case Managers, Intake Specialists, Admins, Therapists, and Psychiatrists.
  • Ability to uphold strict confidentiality to protect patients’ privacy.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
