Regional Business Director – Southwest Region (CO, NM, UT, ID, MT, OK, KS, TX, LA)

Pulmonx is seeking a dynamic Regional Business Director (RBD) to lead sales growth and market development across the Southwest Region. In this role, you’ll build strong partnerships with physicians, care teams, and hospital leaders to expand awareness and adoption of Pulmonx’s innovative lung health solutions.

You will also lead and inspire a high-performing field sales team, providing coaching, guidance, and strategic support to achieve ambitious regional goals. In addition, you’ll collaborate with hospitals to advance Lung Health Programs, including establishing pathways for identifying COPD/Emphysema patients.

The RBD will ideally live within the Houston, Dallas, Austin, Denver or San Antonio metros. Travel approximately 50%.

Responsibilities And Capabilities

Leadership and Team Management

  • Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing sales team focused on driving market growth and achieving regional objectives.
  • Lead the execution of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales plans by partnering with team members on account strategy, priorities, and opportunities.
  • Maintain regular touchpoints with team members to review key performance metrics, support their development, and ensure accurate Salesforce utilization.
  • Set clear expectations for activity and performance, and foster accountability through coaching and consistent follow-up.
  • Proactively plan for territory transitions and recruit to ensure strong regional coverage with minimal downtime.
  • Ensure field personnel are fully trained on Pulmonx products and prepared to support physicians effectively in clinical settings.
  • Conduct quarterly multi-day field visits with each team member to provide performance feedback, strategic guidance, and ongoing development, supported by field visit letters, recognition programs, and regional team meetings.

Field & Customer Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with administrative, C-Suite, and clinical stakeholders to advance Pulmonx’s system strategy and grow regional revenue.
  • Support key accounts and provide guidance to the field team to drive program adoption of Pulmonx products.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key thought leaders in the Region and utilize these relationships to expand sales of Pulmonx products, conduct professional education, and provide input to new product development.
  • Train physicians on the proper use the Company’s products and support them as appropriate during cases. Ensure trained physicians complete training and their 45-day review.
  • Represent Pulmonx at local meetings and conventions of key target societies or groups.

Business Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee regional sales forecasting and budget management to meet targets.
  • Promote compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ensure adoption of business tools such as Salesforce and completion of strategic plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of sales experience within the medical device industry.
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent people leadership experience; experience with surgically implantable devices, interventional pulmonology, or program-building is a plus.
  • OR/MIS experience will be strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Customer- and patient-focused, with strong closing ability and product expertise.
  • High energy, strong work ethic, integrity, and a values-driven approach.
  • Mature, flexible, self-motivated, team-oriented, and an effective, motivating leader.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50%, or more if business determines.

Compensation: Base 185K/285K OTE
