What are the responsibilities and job description for the Team Lead / Café Supervisor position at Pullen Cafe?
Team Lead / Café Supervisor
Pullen Café at Pullen Park — Raleigh, NC
This is not a desk job. It's a working leadership position for someone who wants to lead a team, solve problems, and be trusted to help run the café.
Café or restaurant experience is a plus, but it isn't the main skill we're looking for. We're looking for someone with a natural ability to lead people, use good judgment, and create a positive, accountable team environment. You should be comfortable working in a busy food-service environment and willing to learn the operational side of the café.
We're looking for someone who:
- Is mature, dependable, and able to work independently
- Leads by example and isn't afraid to work alongside the team
- Gives direction without micromanaging
- Knows how to motivate people while still holding them accountable
- Notices when something needs to be done and takes initiative
- Handles customer concerns with good judgment and makes sure customers feel heard
- Understands that cleanliness and food safety are non-negotiable
- Can recognize when a team member needs direction and give them something productive to do
- Wants to help develop a team that takes pride in the team that they develop
You'll work alongside the team while taking responsibility for the operation of the café during your shifts. You'll be expected to take ownership—not wait for someone to tell you what to do.
Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday are required. You'll be responsible for making sure the café operates successfully from open to close. Additional hours may be available based on the needs of the café and your availability.
One of your first projects will be to learn how we operate the café and help turn that knowledge into clear procedures and opening and closing checklists. You'll take notes during your training, learn our expectations, and use what you learn to help create tools that make the team more consistent and successful.
We're looking for someone who wants to lead, develop people, and be trusted with responsibility.
If that sounds like you, we'd like to hear from you.
