Job Overview/Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Endoscopy Staff Nurse responsible for the delivery and evaluation of patient care within endoscopy services. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, a strong mentor, and passionate about maintaining high clinical standards while working in a dynamic and innovative team setting.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality care and maintain clinical standards under direction.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and update individualized care programs.
- Perform all relevant nursing procedures independently and supervise junior staff.
- Act as associate/named nurse and maintain high standards of patient care.
- Mentor and assess students and Health Care Support Workers.
- Participate in ward/unit-level research and continuous professional development.
- Practice as per “Endoscopy Nurse Skill Set (Band 5)” guidelines.
- Support and supervise endoscopy, respiratory (e.g., bronchoscopy, EBUS), and urology procedures (e.g., cystoscopy).
- Administer medications including controlled drugs, and manage medical stock.
- Support ward and theatre staff during endoscopic procedures.
- Organize nursing care plans including patient admission/discharge.
- Participate in on-call rota post competency assessment.
- Ensure patient property care and equipment maintenance.
- Proven competence in endoscopy-related nursing procedures.
- Strong assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Proficiency in using and maintaining specialized endoscopy/video equipment.
- Ability to coordinate care across departments (e.g., respiratory, urology, theatre).
- Knowledge of District Transfer Policy.
- Understanding of controlled drug protocols.
- Familiarity with clinical audit and research processes.
- Experience supervising junior staff or students.
- Nursing Degree
- Registered with NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council)
- Post-registration qualification in Endoscopy (preferred)
- Experience in acute medical/surgical settings
- Experience working in Endoscopy settings
