JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the coordination of all religious programs within the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility, including the scheduling of visitation from community religious volunteers.
Essential Job Functions
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a smoking-restricted office environment within a detention facility.
Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
Completion of a bachelor’s degree in theology, religious philosophy, psychology, counseling, or a related field; experience with the provision of religious, guidance, or counseling services or a related area; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
Requirements
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check, motor vehicle report, child maltreatment check, and adult maltreatment check.
In addition to the pre-employment checks, all employees who operate county vehicles are required to undergo an annual motor vehicle report.
This position is safety-sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
Must possess or be able to immediately obtain a valid Arkansas Driver’s License.
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

Essential Job Functions
- Coordinates all inmate visitations provided by community religious representatives.
- Coordinates and monitors inmate religious programs in a non-denominational manner.
- Notifies and provides support to family members in the event of inmate or employee death.
- Coordinates honor guard functions and schedules other special events.
- Acts as a liaison between the Detention Facility and community religious organizations.
- Schedules Bible or other religious programs; reviews and approves all religious program lesson plans.
- Visits inmates to assess inmate religious needs and notify appropriate religious organization or affiliate.
- Schedules inmate baptisms or other religious ceremonies.
- Provides guidance to inmates and employees as to methods and techniques of stress management, communication, conflict resolution, and other topics pertinent to staff and inmates.
- Monitors program presentation to assess effectiveness and adherence to the approved plan.
- Notifies management of problems/situations that arise as needed.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- Extensive knowledge of the beliefs, traditions, and theologies of a variety of religions.
- Knowledge of facility policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of psychological concepts needed for life skills management such as anger, stress, conflict, and communication management.
- Knowledge of volunteer religious and community programs.
- Ability to organize a detailed visitation schedule.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with community religious organizations, ministers, inmates, employees, and the general public.
- Ability to prepare oral and written presentations.
- Ability to effectively communicate in writing.
- Ability to attend work regularly and reliably.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally.
- Ability to move throughout the facility to contact and observe inmates in all areas.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Ability to concentrate for long periods of time.
