Grocery Service Assistant (Richard's Market)

Job Description

Provides support to the Grocery operations which include; produce, kitchen, deli and meat. Provides friendly, attentive and prompt customer service while working in a variety of departments.

Compensation

$21.48/hour (non-exempt).

This is a Union position with 1 opening.

Reporting Relationship

Reports to: Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, and Store Supervisor

Responsibilities

Essential Duties

• Produce: receives, prepares and stocks in the produce area.
• Kitchen: Assists in preparing grab and go food items and pastries.
• Meat: Assists with wrapping meat, fish, poultry and properly labels products.
• Conducts regular inspections of produce, meat and prepared foods to ensure quality assurance of products.
• Receives and inspects all produce that arrives at the grocery store and inspects for quality and weight.
• Inspects refrigerators and produce section to ensure that products are stored properly.
• Ensures a clean, neat and organized work area.
• Participates in the ordering of meats and produce.
• Safely handles all equipment used in the butcher area.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualification/Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

• One year of experience in a grocery store, preferred.
• Requires knowledge of different kinds of meat, fish, poultry, and produce.
• Basic knowledge of food safety practices for preparing and serving food.
• Requires relating to people in a friendly and professional manner.
• Requires working to the established procedures and maintaining reliable work attendance.
• Able to think and make effective decisions quickly.
• Ability to create effective working relationships with people.
• Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and work under pressure.

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and hear.
• The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and color vision.
