Body Shop Detailer (PT, 1pm to 5pm)

Description

 SUMMARY

Cleans and refurbishes vehicles after body or refinishing work has been completed. Conforms to dealership specifications and time allowances. Prepares the vehicle for delivery as quickly as possible in a safe and quality manner, with a fit and finish that meets or exceeds the original factory fit and finish. The end result should be an invisible repair.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Inspect every vehicle to ensure that it has passed all previous inspections and standards. Read the entire Work Order thoroughly and visually inspect the vehicle to check that all the repairs listed are complete. Give extra attention to any special promises or notes, and if any discrepancies are found notify the appropriate person immediately.

· Protect the customer’s car to prevent damage during the repairs. This includes but is not limited to seat bags, floor mats, car covers, welding blankets, masking paper or any other practical method that yields positive results.

· Washes vehicle exterior, cleans interior and exterior windows, and wipes down doorjambs.

· Vacuums interior of vehicles to remove loose dirt and debris.

· Cleans upholstery, rugs, and other surfaces, using appropriate cleaning agents, applicators, and cleaning devices.

· Cleans engine and engine compartment with steam-cleaning equipment and various cleaning agents.

· Uses proper eye, hand, and body protection when using products that require protection.

· Keeps work area neat and clean.

· Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.

· Reports any safety issues immediately to management.

· Keeps current on all training requirements; such as GM training, Compliance training and other training as assigned by manager.

· Sets a good example by maintaining a healthy work demeanor and cooperating with other managers and fellow employees in a positive spirit of teamwork. Represents Puklich Chevrolet positively when out in the community.

MARGINAL DUTIES

Marginal Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Keeps shop area clean and free of garbage.

· Sweeps and washes shop area floor.

· Gathers and moves garbage from shop area to dumpsters.

QUALIFICATIONS

• EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before small groups of customers or employees of organization.

• MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions and percentages.

• REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.
