What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Associate position at Pugh CPAs?
This position is responsible for providing high quality accounting services and personalized client support to a large client base across diverse industries, including but not limited to the production of financial reports, general ledger work, payroll, sales and business taxes, and account reconciliations.
Essential Duties:
- Perform general to complex accounting work, including account reconciliations, journal entries,
accounts receivable and payable, year-end adjustments/closing work processes
- Investigate and correct general ledger balance discrepancies, including comprehensive clean-up work
- Assist in preparing financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
- Assist with conversions of client books to Quickbooks
- Process payroll and payroll tax returns
- Process monthly sales tax returns
- Process business tax returns, annual reports, and personal property tax reports
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills:
Associates degree preferred, but not required
4 years of relevant experience, preferably in a CPA firm environment or client accounting services environment
Excellent understanding of accounting principles
Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Online and/or Desktop, Microsoft Office, and Outlook
Self-motivated and able to handle a fast-paced work environment independently or with a team
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy; highly organized and able to multi-task
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work extended hours during peak season including working weekends as needed
