What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optometric Technician position at Puget Sound Eye Care?
A full time position is available for an energetic, friendly, and motivated assistant with our practice. We are a local and longstanding eye care practice with locations in Seattle and Bellevue/Factoria and staff 5 optometrists who alternate locations. The ideal candidate would work in both locations and some Saturdays. While experience is preferred, we are willing to train the right candidate.
Our office sees a variety of patients of all ages and backgrounds, so the ability to work with a diverse patient base is key. We are looking for someone with excellent customer service and a strong work ethic to join our fun, hardworking team.
Requirements:
- Strong customer service skills
- Attention to detail
- Able to multi-task
- Quick learner
- Able to take initiative and complete tasks
Preferred, but not required:
- Previous optometric or ophthalmic assistant experience
- Familiarity with medical and optometric terminology
- Familiarity with Crystal PM or other optometric EHR software
Duties:
- Collecting patient history
- Perform routine and medically necessary testing as needed, including usage of autorefractor, lensometer, fundoscope, OCT and Visual Field devices
- Entering new prescriptions into our EHR and calling in prescriptions as needed
- Assisting and educating the patient under supervision of the doctor
- Instructing new contact lens users
- Other duties as required
