Duties And Responsibilities
- Independently fabricate, assemble, install, and repair advanced sheet metal ductwork, fittings, dampers, access doors, and specialty components per blueprints, specifications, and SMACNA standards.
- Perform layout, field measurements, complex modifications, precise sealing/hanging, and airflow balancing to achieve optimal system performance.
- Lead service/retrofit calls from start to finish: assess on-site issues, communicate clearly with customers on findings/recommendations/solutions, coordinate parts/materials, execute work, and follow up for satisfaction.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex ductwork problems, including leaks, improper airflow, insulation issues, and system integration challenges.
- Conduct quality inspections, sealing tests, and adjustments; ensure compliance with SMACNA standards, codes, and project requirements.
- Document work thoroughly (work orders, reports, photos, as-builts, recommendations) and maintain accurate records for billing, warranty, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and guide Service Retrofit Sheet Metal Installer I and II team members by demonstrating advanced techniques, sharing best practices, and supporting on-the-job learning and safety adherence.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas, vehicles, tools, and PPE; adhere to all safety protocols and company standards.

Requirements/Qualifications
- Experience: 5 years in commercial sheet metal/HVAC installation, fabrication, and retrofit work; proven journeyman-level proficiency in handling complex tasks with minimal supervision.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; trade school, apprenticeship completion, or relevant certifications (e.g., SMACNA-related) preferred.
- Physical Demands: Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs, climb ladders/scaffolding/stairs, work in confined spaces or at heights, bend/kneel/crouch, reach overhead, and use hand/power tools for extended periods; frequent standing, walking, and manual dexterity required.
- Work Environment/Safety: Primarily field-based in commercial/industrial settings (indoor/outdoor, varying weather conditions, retrofit sites); exposure to noise, dust, heights, sharp materials, and mechanical hazards; must strictly adhere to OSHA regulations, conduct hazard identification, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, harnesses, and steel-toed boots at all times—safety is our top priority and non-negotiable. This is a safety-sensitive position. Occasional regional travel within assigned market or on-call rotations may be required as business needs dictate.
- Advanced sheet metal fabrication/installation techniques, SMACNA standards mastery, complex duct layout/modification, sealing, and airflow balancing.
- Blueprint/schematic reading, troubleshooting, and quality inspection/testing.
