Camino Nuevo Charter Academy (CNCA) is a community of high-performing public schools that utilizes a comprehensive approach to prepare students from preschool through high school for success in college and in life. Founded in 2000, Camino Nuevo Charter Academy students represent the neighborhood of MacArthur Park west of downtown Los Angeles, a community that is one of the most under-resourced and densely populated neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Currently, CNCA has six campuses that serve approximately 3,500 students from TK through 12th grade.

The OpportunityUnder general supervision the Lead Custodian supervises a small custodial team and maintains an assigned school facility, group of buildings, or office space in a clean, orderly, and secure manner and performs other related work as required or assigned. ResponsibilitiesPlan and supervise the cleaning program of the schoolPrepare work schedules; plan, assign, and supervise the work of custodiansProvide training for new custodial employeesMaintain, store, inventory, and requisition custodial supplies and equipment as neededOperate and adjust heating and ventilating equipment Submit maintenance work order requests and/or contact maintenance vendors for needed repairsAnswer requests for setting up classrooms, cafeterias, and MPR for special eventsConfer with superiors regarding care and cleaning problems at the schoolKeep records and makes oral and written reports, as requiredDaily wipe and disinfect high contact surfaces entry gates, main doors, office doors, reception desks and lunch areasDaily clean and disinfect restrooms as per disinfecting methods with Versa II cleaning machineDaily spray outdoor play apparatus, student lunch tables and benches with portable back-pack sprayer.

Wipe and clean manually, if necessaryBi-weekly wipe and disinfect touch-surface office equipment (i.e. copier, fax machines, etc) and file areas. Bi-weekly spray disinfectant in exterior areas, stair hand rails, elevator doors, and other touch surfacesWeekly spray rooms with disinfectant with Clorox T-360 electrostatic disinfectant sprayer Weekly pressure wash of high use exterior areas, sidewalks, walkways, student lunch areas, etc. Sweep, mop, strip, wax, and seal floorsVacuum rugs and carpetDust, wash, and polish furniture and woodworkEmpty and clean waste receptacles, including trash barrelsWash windows and walls, polish metalwork, and clean whiteboardsMove and arrange furniture and equipment in preparing multipurpose rooms or classrooms for events or meetingsReplace light bulbs and lighting tubesClean window coverings, such as drapes and blindsPick up paper and other debris from school grounds, walk areas, and the areas adjacent to the school facilitiesSweep concrete surfaces adjacent to the school buildingsPerform emergency cleanup service resulting from breakage, vandalism, spilling, and illnessMay raise and lower flags, lock and unlock gates and doorsMay set or manage security and video systemsAssist in receiving and distributing supplies and equipmentArrange cones for student pick up & drop off; collect and put them awayPerform minor maintenance tasks in keeping assigned areas safe and operationalCare for landscaping including pruning, planting, and wateringActively seek to determine the needs of students and staff with respect to the facility and to meet, and whenever possible, exceed their needs Participate in professional development and regularly scheduled meetings with school team or cross-site team of custodians as requestedOther duties as assigned NON-DISCRIMINATION STATEMENTCamino Nuevo Charter Academy (CNCA) prohibits discrimination, harassment, intimidation and bullying in educational programs, activities, or employment on the basis of actual or perceived ancestry, age, color, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, parental, pregnancy, family or marital status, military status or association with a person or a group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics.
