JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Job Title: Radiologic Technologist

Direct Report: Director of Operations

FLSA Status: Non-exempt/Full-Time

Hours Worked: 40 /week

BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Operates radiologic and fluoroscopy equipment to produce radiographs of the body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by a Radiologist.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job. They are the major functions for which the person in the job is held accountable. The following are the essential functions of the job.

Duties:

  1. Greet, accept and prepare the patient for x-ray and fluoroscopy procedures.
  2. Crosstrain into MRI and/or CT as assigned.
  3. Assess and document patient’s condition to determine proper handling and special requirements. 
  4. Ensure positive experience for the patient while at any PMI facility and uphold company objective for patient satisfaction.
  5. Check requisition for physician notes and/or special instructions.  
  6. Instruct and assist patients in assuming physical position for appropriate test. 
  7. Provide x-ray and fluoroscopy services in a timely manner while performing high quality procedures.
  8. Adhere to procedure protocols as established by the Medical Director.  
  9. Enforce radiation safety procedures to provide a safe environment for patients and staff.  Safety procedures for other modalities may apply if certified.
  10. Maintain x-ray and fluoroscopy equipment/rooms in proper working condition. Report malfunctions and necessary repairs to manager. 
  11. Keep autoclave in working order and sterilize instruments.
  12. Keep all crash carts up to date. 
  13. Order and keep inventory of all medical supplies.
  14. Train and support peers and new team members, sharing knowledge, demonstrating best practices, and ensuring consistency in processes across the department. 
  15. Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned. 
Qualifications:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • 1-3 years of previous radiology and fluoroscopy experience required. 
  • ARRT license or ACR accreditation requirements must be met for all modalities performed.
  • Student CT State License is required.
  • Ability to do essential job duties.
  • Ability to read, understand, speak, and follow English instructions.  Bilingual preferred.
  • Display superior interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients and peers.
  • Possess a superior knowledge of x-ray procedures and techniques.

Physical Demands:

  • Standing - This position frequently requires standing for short periods of time for patient assessment, positioning patient for procedure, communicating with all facility personnel, faxing, copying and completing other job related duties.
  • Walking - This position consistently requires walking short distances of up to 100 yards to communicate with patients, staff, doctors, vendors, and direct report.
  • Sitting - This position consistently requires sitting to configure and enter data needed for electronic medical charts, diagnostic procedures on a RIS and PACS computer system and other essential job duties.

  • Reaching - This position frequently requires reaching with hands and arms approximately 3 ft. all directions to assist patients while at the facility for a required procedure and/or perform various job related functions.
  • Carrying - This position occasionally requires carrying objects weighing up a maximum of 25 lbs. for short distances to carry out essential job related duties.
  • Pushing  - This position occasionally requires pushing objects weighing a maximum of 50 lbs.
  • Pulling - This position occasionally requires pulling objects weighing a maximum of 50 lbs. to assist patients while at the facility for a required procedure and/or perform various job related functions.
  • Handing - This position frequently requires handing paper, clipboards or objects to patients, staff, doctors, and vendors to carry out essential job duties.
  • Speaking - This position consistently requires excellent verbal abilities to communicate with patients, coworkers, doctors, and vendors on a daily basis.
  • Hearing - This position consistently requires auditory abilities to efficiently listen to patients, doctors, vendors, co-workers, and staff to carry out essential job duties.
  • Seeing - This position consistently requires acute visual abilities to conduct requested medical procedures, see the computer to enter patient data and document necessary information to become part of the patient’s electronic chart, read patient related documents, physician requests, and other job related paperwork to carry out essential job duties.
  • Depth Perception - This position consistently requires depth perception while driving to facilities.
  • Peripheral Vision - This position consistently required peripheral vision while driving to facilities.

Explanation: This position is minimally monitored by the Director of Operations.

Does this position have access to confidential information? Yes
Explanation: This position has access to confidential information such as social security numbers, dates of birth, and HIPAA information for all patients seen at the outpatient facility.

Does this position have access to or handle company funds? No

Is it important to this position the incumbent be able to read, write and communicate fluently in English? Yes
Explanation: A majority of affiliated personnel and patients communicate with our business in English. Bilingual abilities are preferred.

What kind of work experience (including length of time), training, and/or level of education is necessary for this position? This position requires a minimum of 1-3 years of previous mammography experience. Must possess knowledge of Mammography procedures and technique as required by MQSA. Current ARRT license or ACR accreditation requirements must be met for all modalities performed. Current State of Nevada Mammography license and BCLS are required. Competency in standard precautions and aseptic technique.

List any technical skills (typing, computer skills, etc.): The skills required by this position include, but are not limited to, typing, computer literacy, faxing, scanning, copying, and knowledge of data entry on a RIS and PACS system.

List other special training and/or abilities are necessary to qualify for this position? The person that fills this position must be able to read, write, understand and interpret reports and correspondence in English. The individual must have problem solving and analytical skills to interpret physician requests and relay procedure results to facility physicians. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills needed for daily interpersonal communication with patients, staff, vendors, doctors, and direct report. .

Explanation: The working environment is in a medical office setting that can be moderately loud at times because of the machinery.
