I-9 Compliance Analyst, Human Resources - Lakeland

Description

The purpose of this position is to process and oversee the timely completion of identity verification and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment by Publix while maintaining compliance with the policies and practices of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigrations Services (USCIS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE), under the direction of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Responsibilities

• Working with retail and support areas to conduct an E-Verify check using the information provided on Form I-9 as well as visual verification of the documents to validate both the identity of the associate and their employment authorization to work within the U.S.
• Maintaining (updating and editing) the correct citizenship status and work authorization dates in SAP.
• Maintaining compliance of all Employment Eligibility Verification forms (Form I-9) for all newly hired and rehired associates within Publix.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 1 year experience working in Associate Data Services or Human Resources
• Work effectively without close supervision or guidance
• Undertake new tasks as work is completed without being told to do so
• Manage time so that the priority of the activities determines the timing and amount of attention they receive
• Understand and apply new information, procedures, or principles to perform job duties
• Attend to and verify the accuracy and completeness of detailed information in documents or on the computer, such as prices, quantity, weights, lists or data
• Develop and maintain professional, trusting, positive, and productive working relationships with associates, managers, customers, and vendors
• Create an environment in which a positive and professional service orientation is evident to internal customers
• Orally present and express ideas and information clearly, politely, and concisely, in a manner appropriate to the audience
• Prepare clear, accurate, understandable, and professional written text in English, using appropriate level of detail for the intended audience, and following the basic rules of spelling, grammar, and punctuation to convey information
• Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Access

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in Human Resources or related field
• 2 years Publix experience working in Associate Data Services and/or Human Resources
• Knowledge of MRL (Manager Reference Library), Publix Effective Business writing, various systems used within Publix such as SAP, MSS, ViewStar, Host, AMS, and other databases
• Knowledge of Form I-9 and E-Verify process and federal regulations
• Intermediate knowledge of Word and Excel

Year End Bonus

To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
