Senior Fraud Prevention Analyst
The Senior Fraud Prevention Analyst is responsible for investigating high profile and complex cases, resolving client questions from branch personnel, determining the course of action needed for significant fraud incidents. In this role, the incumbent will participate in implementing new departmental processes and procedures, providing assistance and guidance to junior fraud analysts, and administering the quality control (QC) function including reviews. This is an onsite position in Lakeland, Florida.
What you will do…
- Maintains and investigates individual caseload of high profile and complex cases.
- Provides general guidance and support to junior associates.
- Conducts QC reviews of fraud case investigations to include the proper analysis of fraud typologies and investigation facts, the investigative reports (narratives), supporting documentation, and case dispositions.
- Verifies that all cases are closed/filed in accordance with internal Service Level Agreements (SLA) and in compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assigns new alerts and cases to junior fraud analysts, and reviews alerts and cases recommended for closure and/or escalation.
- Provides QC scorecards and verbal feedback/training to the junior fraud analysts.
- Reviews CAMS alerts for credit union wide member impact analysis.
- Assists with ensuring compliance with the ID Theft policy by ensuring that red flags are identified, monitored, and responded to, and required regulatory notifications and requirements are met.
- Participates in department projects as a fraud subject matter expert and liaison and assists in implementing cross-departmental procedures to carry out effective change management.
- Determines the course of action needed for significant fraud incidents including the need to file SARs and/or the need to close member accounts.
- Serves as first point of escalation and provides support to business units in reviewing fraud incidents.
- Researches and answers routine fraud-related questions from junior Fraud Analysts and internal business partners.
- Monitors fraud trends and supports the Director of Compliance & Fraud in strategy development to address the trends to reduce fraud losses and enhance effectiveness of the fraud unit’s processes and procedures.
- Assists in monitoring and testing card fraud rules as well as transaction monitoring analytics parameters.
- Assists and supports the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) compliance program through monitoring for suspicious activity, co-investigating FRAML cases, and filing suspicious activity reports.
- Compiles fraud department data for weekly, monthly, and annual reporting
- Assists in reconciling fraud unit general ledger accounts.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and webinars, reviewing professional publications, and establishing professional networks.
- Assists in developing new hire training and role-specific education for various business units.
- Provide training and coaching to junior Fraud Analysts to ensure they can accomplish their responsibilities with accuracy, efficiency, and in a risk-focused manner.
- Responsible for generating periodic reports (metrics) that will be utilized to analyze quality trends and patterns.
What you need…
- Expertise in fraud specific State and Federal regulations affecting credit unions including Regulations E, CC, GG, and V, the FCRA, FACT Act, Bank Secrecy Act and NACHA
- Knowledge of federal laws, including but not limited to: US Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets and Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act
- Expertise in typical fraud unit operations and procedures
- Demonstrated proficiency in fraud investigation methodologies, fraud typologies including cyber-related fraud typologies, and have a firm grasp of fraud-related industry trends.
- Highly skilled in communicating effectively with all staff levels, both orally and in writing and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
- Possesses a thorough working knowledge of fraud typologies involving various transaction types including ACH transactions, checks, wires, credit, and debit cards, P2P and A2A transfers as well as an understanding of account authentication and takeover risks.
- Highly skilled in making independent decisions with limited information and analyzing transactions and account relationships to assess risk levels.
- Highly skilled in analyzing large sets of transaction data in excel to identify irregular transactions.
- Experience and comfortability with conducting investigative interviews of victims and potential suspects of financial crime.
- Highly proficient in using Microsoft Office suite products and transaction monitoring software such as Verafin, Actimize, etc.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to drive root cause resolutions based on analytical discipline.
- Exceptional coaching and communication skills
- Ability to compose and edit professional and effective communications, reports, and policy/procedure documents.
- Specialized in transforming data into meaningful information and reports that provide valuable insights.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work independently, and work under time constraints while remaining organized
- 3-5 years experience conducting complex fraud investigations within a financial institution and/or extensive knowledge of account fraud, remote banking fraud, fraud disputes, and BSA regulations
