SALARY: Grade 67 - $3,658.59 Monthly Starting Salary

EMPLOYMENT:
12 months


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A 2 Year Associates Degree from an accredited community college. (Official Transcript Required).
  • A 4 Year Bachelor Degree from an accredited college/university. (Preferred)


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid NC Driver’s License and personal transportation with current auto insurance and liability coverage.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write clearly and concisely in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to translate, both orally and in writing, a variety of materials from English to Spanish to collaborate with school, agencies, and local agricultural employers to recruit and serve eligible children.
  • Strong computer skills including word processing, data input, translation software, email, and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work independently and to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, and weekends, Essential Duties, and weekends.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identifies eligible migrant students residing within the boundaries of the LEA; works flexible hours to reach migrant population.
  • Completes Certificate of Eligibility to enroll children in the Migrant Education Program; obtains a parent signature for documentation of eligibility for eligible students; submits completed and signed Certificates of Eligibility in a timely manner.
  • Explains federal regulations pertaining to the migrant education program; provides parent/guardian with a description of the Migrant Program and an explanation and purpose of the occupational survey
  • Documents, maintains, and keeps a daily log to include mileage and time of all activities such as home visits, assisting with PAC meetings, transportation of parents/guardians, or other activities.
  • Abides by standard procedures and practices contained in the State Identification and Recruitment Handbook and other directives issued by the State Department of Education.
  • Assists school principals, teachers, secretaries, guidance and nurses in maintaining related records.
  • Communicates between home and school, continually striving to maintain positive communication.
  • Recruits parents for membership in the Parent Advisory Council.
  • Analyzes data (e.g. student assessment data, migrant family demographics, etc.) for the purpose of identifying academic and health/safety needs of student groups or individuals, and preparing student data reports for district and state use.
  • Collaborates with a variety of groups and/or individuals for the purpose of linking students and families to necessary services, overcoming cultural language or economic barrier to services, and bringing support programs into schools.
  • Develops and assists with a variety of programs across the district throughout the year (e.g. After-School programs, summer school programs, credit recovery, online programs, etc.) for the purpose of providing additional educational options and innovative approaches to serving migrant students.
  • Maintains a variety of confidential and non-confidential manual and electronic lists and records (e.g. student records, compliance reports, personnel evaluations, parent interview results for comprehensive needs assessment at the home within 30 days of entry, current Needs Assessment document, Individual learning plans, migrant student record transfer system documents, etc.) for the purpose of compiling and documenting activities in compliance with funding requirements.
  • Organizes, directs and leads parent support activities (e.g. Parent Advisory Committee meetings, evening, weekend, and daytime parent education workshops, etc.) for the purpose of involving parents in activities that support their children's education.
  • Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars (e.g. presentations to District staff regarding ME programs, Regional Parent Advisory Council meetings, Regional MEP Meetings, university planning committees, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required for the fulfillment of the service agreement and its related functions.
